LAC DISTRICTS AND CHAPTERS
Lithuanian American Community (LAC) districts operate to accomplish common goals and to coordinate and manage the joint activities of the LAC chapters. Districts are established and dissolved by the LAC National Board of Directors upon the recommendation of the LAC National Executive Committee. When a district is dissolved, its assets and funds are transferred to the National Executive Committee.
The district convention is the highest authority of the district. It addresses district matters and elects the district board and audit commission for a three-year term. The convention is convened by the district board at least once a year.
In every locality where Lithuanians reside, a LAC chapter is established. Chapters are founded, their boundaries defined, and, if a chapter ceases to operate, it is dissolved by the LAC National Executive Committee. The highest authority of a chapter is the chapter meeting.
Currently, the Lithuanian American Community operates 9 districts, which include 51 chapter active in 27 states and the capital, Washington, D.C.
