All Lithuanians living here belong to the Lithuanian American Community: we are united by the preservation of identity and traditions, our language, the fostering and passing on of our national culture. All of this determines the future of Lithuanian heritage. Throughout the twists of history, Lithuanians have found ways to endure, to remain confident in themselves, and to safeguard their Lithuanian identity.

Our lives are all different: sometimes bright and full of spark, sometimes a little subdued… but each one is a story. Like colorful beads strung together into a single necklace, or like a DNA spiral—holding on so nothing gets lost. Because it’s always better, warmer, when we’re together. That’s how our lives stay connected—threaded onto the strand of community, to protect, enrich, and bring a little light into our everyday.

Where is that Lithuanian gene encoded? We’ll try to find out by sharing the stories of everyday heroes who live right among us. We meet them, we talk to them — and sometimes, we might even walk past without realizing who they are…

This project is supported by the Lithuanian Foundation and the Media Support Fund.
