LAC NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
2024-2025 JAV LB Krašto valdybos veiklos ataskaita
The National Executive Committee of the Lithuanian American Community (LAC) is the highest executive body of the Community. It represents Lithuanians in the U.S., implements the tasks specified in the LAC bylaws, and carries out the resolutions of the LAC National Board of Directors
The National Executive Committee consists of its President, members invited by the President, and a representative of the U.S. Lithuanian Youth Association. All members are approved by the LAC National Board of Directors. The Committee reports to the Board on its activities, plans, and accountability.
Members of the National Executive Committee work in various areas, including Education, Culture, Public and Human Services, Religious Affairs, Sports, Youth, Organizational Affairs, Finance, Economic Affairs, Information, Archival Affairs, and others.
Key Focus Areas
- Education. The Lithuanian Educational Council of the USA oversees all Lithuanian-language schools in the U.S., provides them with teaching materials, and takes care of teacher training and program development.
- Culture. The Cultural Affairs Council of the National Executive Committee organizes performances by artistic ensembles, manages archives, and announces creative competitions. The National Executive Committee initiates North American lithuanian dance and song festivals.
- Youth and Studies. The Executive Committee oversees the LISS program, which provides youth with opportunities to gain practical experience in Lithuania.
- Public Affairs. The National Executive Committee supports the establishment of Lithuanian communities throughout the U.S., coordinates the work of districts and chapters, and convenes assemblies of their presidents.
- Human Services and Religious Affairs. The Lithuanian Human Services Council of the USA assists Lithuanians in the U.S. with social welfare matters, establishes senior centers, and advocates for community interests. The Religious Affairs Council oversees Lithuanian religious life and fosters cooperation among different denominations.
The National Executive Committee maintains ongoing communication with the Presidium of the LAC National Board of Directors, cooperates with the Lithuanian World Community, and establishes dialogue with U.S. government institutions and organizations of other nationalities.
The scope of activities of the LAC National Executive Committee is very broad. Therefore, it is especially important to have volunteers—energetic, creative, and responsible members—who contribute to shaping the future of the community.
All members of the National Executive Committee are volunteers and perform their work on a non-paid, public-service basis.
