LISS PROGRAM
Registration for the 2026 LISS program has begun
Registration is open from October 1 to December 13, 2025.
The 2026 LISS program will run from May 31 to July 5, 2026.
The Lithuanian American Community has been organizing the Lithuanian International Student Services (LISS) internship program for many years. This five-week summer program is designed for students of Lithuanian heritage from the U.S. and Canada who are pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees.
The selected students travel to Lithuania, where internship placements are matched to their field of study or planned career path. They work five days a week, for at least six hours a day, while weekends are reserved for cultural trips and meetings.
LISS offers much more than just professional experience. It’s a chance to improve Lithuanian language skills, step into everyday life in Lithuania, and see the country’s cultural scene from the inside. Participants travel across Lithuania, meet inspiring people, and visit biomedical, laser, and high-tech companies, as well as university research centers. Along the way, they discover a modern, Western-oriented Lithuania known for its innovation.
The program is open to students between the ages of 18 and 26. An advantage is given to those who have attended Lithuanian language classes at Saturday schools or who are actively involved in the Lithuanian American Community and the Lithuanian Foundation.
Graduates of the program gain not only international work experience but also five university credits, as LISS is carried out in partnership with Vilnius University. It’s a valuable addition to any young person’s résumé, opening the door to broader opportunities in the future.
The patron of the LISS program is the Lithuanian Foundation.
